Project Management Specialist


Overview

The Project Management Specialist course, developed by the McGill University School of Continuing Studies, provides a clear and practical overview of modern project management. It covers predictive, adaptive, and hybrid approaches to project management, as well as related methodologies, best practices, tools, and techniques. 

The course content is aligned with leading project management standards and practice guides, including:

  • A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide, 8th Edition), which covers principles of project management and focus areas.
  • A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide, 7th Edition), which covers principles of project management and project performance domains.
  • Process Groups: A Practice Guide (2022), which complements the PMBOK® Guide, 7th Edition.
  • Agile Practice Guide (2017), which provides an overview of various Agile approaches, tools, and situational guidelines.

Through case studies, scenarios, videos, and practical activities, key concepts are brought to life, while insights from experienced project management professionals and downloadable templates support the immediate application of learning in the workplace.

Competencies Obtained

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of project management principles, concepts, tools, and techniques.
  • Select the appropriate project management approach depending on the project size, context, industry, and environment.

5. Predictive Project Delivery: Planning a Project

Assessment

Each module includes an integrated online assessment. 

Candidates must successfully complete the assessment for each module to receive an Attestation of Completion for the course.
