Objectives

- Appreciate how effective accident and incident investigation contributes to safety
- Understand how to undertake a professional investigation at the airport, including how to:

- Apply effective interview techniques
- Interpret the facts
- Determine underlying causes and contributing factors
- Describe the role and responsibilities of an investigator
- Recognize the personal qualities and knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) required by investigators and the importance of training to ensure competence
- Understand the importance of providing a detailed, fact-based report and the required contents
- Understand how to monitor investigation outcomes
