Airport Pavement Maintenance

Overview

The Airport Pavement Maintenance course explores the key concepts relating to the maintenance and rehabilitation of airport pavements.

The course can be taken as part of the Certificate in Airport Pavement Fundamentals for those wishing to gain a more complete understanding of the key concepts and considerations across the pavement lifecycle.

At a minimum, it is recommended that you have previously completed the Introduction to Airport Pavements course, as it provides important foundational knowledge that is extended upon in this course.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of, and need for, airport pavement maintenance.
  • Describe the most common maintenance activities performed on airport pavements.
  • Recall the most common strategies for rehabilitating airport pavements.
  • Describe the importance of, and techniques for, managing pavement surface friction.
  • Understand the role of pavement maintenance in preventing pavement generated foreign object debris (FOD).

Who Should Enrol?

  • Airport operations staff and managers, regulators and inspectors, engineers, project managers, and others who are responsible for designing, constructing, evaluating, or maintaining airfield pavements.
  • Anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of airfield pavements.
