Overview
TP312 Course 1 – Essential Information is mandatory for all participants and must be the first course taken in the TP312 5th Edition Training program whether taken alone or with one or more other courses.
TP312 Course 1 – Essential Information consists of the following five online modules:
1. Introduction to TP312
This introductory module will provide you with an overview of the content and learning objectives to be covered in the TP312 5th Edition Training Program and explain the program methodology.
We will also provide some background information regarding aerodrome certification in Canada leading up to the introduction of TP312 5th Edition.
2. Civil Aviation Reference Centre
This module will explain how to access and utilize Transport Canada’s Civil Aviation Reference Centre.
3. Related Advisory Circulars
This module will explore advisory circulars relevant to TP312 5th Edition.
4. Key Concepts and Chapter 1: Definitions
This module will introduce the key concepts associated with 5th Edition and look at some definitions contained in Chapter 1 of TP312.
5. Chapter 1: Aircraft Group Number
This module will explore the concept of an Aircraft Group Number (AGN).
Objectives
On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Describe the methods to be used throughout the delivery of the Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices TP312 5th Edition course.
- Navigate to the Online Reference Centre home page
- Navigate to aerodromes and airports Advisory Circulars
- Utilize other related Online Reference Centre functions
- Describe the concept of ‘grandfathering’ at airports
- Explain the methodology for the identification of the aircraft group number
- Outline certification requirements as they relate to mixed operations at an airport
- Discuss significant issues associated with the introduction of TP312 5th Edition
- Describe ‘certification level of service’
- Explain the style in which TP312 5th Edition is written
- Describe some of the significant definitions in TP312 5th Edition
- Search TP312 5th Edition to find significant definitions
- Describe the need to determine the AGN for each part of the manoeuvring area
- Differentiate between 4th Edition aerodrome reference code and 5th Edition AGN
- Refer to appropriate sources to determine aircraft characteristics
