Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Prevention

Overview

The ACI Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Prevention course assists airport personnel to understand the threat posed by FOD and explores the key elements of a FOD program that can help airports to successfully manage this threat.

Objectives

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand what FOD is and the serious threat is poses
  • Explain the fundamentals of FOD management programs
  • Outline specific FOD training requirements and program content
  • Understand how effective FOD prevention procedures can improve safety
  • Understand recommended FOD inspection procedures and detection technologies
  • Identify effective FOD removal procedures and equipment
  • Understand the importance of, and how to, analyse FOD data and evaluate FOD program effectiveness
